QCI info and class descriptions & registration
Thompson Engineering is approved by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) as a Certified Training Provider for the Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI) Training Program. This program provides students with instruction in storm water pollution prevention regulations, strategies, and techniques for construction sites. We offer live online initial classes with experienced and knowledgeable instructors to the general public, as well as private group classes to clients upon request by emailing qci@thompsonengineering.com.
Thompson Engineering also offers a convenient, cost-effective online refresher course for all current Thompson QCI students which is required every 2 years beginning April 1, 2026.
Class Descriptions
Live Online Initial Training
To comply with ADEM’s new requirement, instructors must be present for the entire initial QCI course, including the exam. As a result, we will move from our current self-guided online format to an instructor-led virtual format. This virtual approach offers greater flexibility, broader accessibility, and more efficient use of time and resources.
This change ensures full compliance with the updated ADEM regulations while maintaining the high-quality training you expect.
The new instructor-led virtual sessions will include:
- Real‑time interaction with certified trainers
- Opportunities for questions, discussion, and demonstrations
- A structured learning environment that aligns with the updated regulatory standards
We deliver the live online initial training class in a single, 8-hour day including a proctored exam at the end. Prior to the class, students will be able to download the course workbook which includes presentation materials, a study guide, and other helpful references. Upon completion of the course, including passing the exam, each participant will be emailed a certificate and electronic wallet card containing his/her assigned QCI number. Payment must be received to obtain certification.
Online Refresher Training
The QCI online refresher course provides an efficient option for completing the continuing education requirements of the QCI program every 2 years beginning April 1, 2026. Students complete the course modules within a 4-hour period. The course includes a presentation with quizzes at the end of each module to reinforce learning. After registration, the online refresher is accessible through an emailed link. Updated certificates and wallet cards are emailed to each student upon completion and payment of the course.
Fees
The standard registration fee for live online initial training is $525 per student. A $50 discount is available to students whose companies or organizations are members of one of our affiliated associations: AAPA, ARBA, AAGC, ABCA, and AUCA. Membership is subject to verification.
Our live online training dates are subject to change with notice. Classes may be cancelled or postponed if pre-registered attendance projections are not reached. Pre-registration is required and class sizes may be limited. Additional class dates may be added based on demand.
